The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refutes allegations leveled by the Darfur Consortium
(SUNA)- The Ministry Foreign Affairs has described allegations leveled by Darfur Consortium Organization about an alleged government abduction of women and men in Darfur as naïve and immature and reflect horrible ignorance about the reality of things in the country
Ambassador Ali Al Sadeq, the Official Spokesman for the Ministry in a statement to the Sudan News Agency said the report reflects the stance of foreign organizations that are linked to states and intelligence circles known for their hostility against Sudan and that it also reflects the fact that these organizations use the question of Darfur to serve their own vested interest and that they would falsify and forge out reports and burry away facts and base their reporting on non existent witnesses. He pointed out that the report is trying to divert attention away from progress and cooperation that exist between the government of the Sudan, the African Union and the United Nations with the view to improve humanitarian and security situation in Darfur and to hasten up the steps towards political settlement despite the intransigence of the armed rebel movements, non signatory of the Abuja peace accord. The spokesman has denied that the government was carrying out any operations targeting innocent civilians in Darfur and that any military acts are aimed at militarily active rebel movements and unruly groups that target humanitarian relief convoys and UNAMID force in Darfur. The Spokesman said despite such falsified and baseless reports, the government of Sudan continues to adopt a transparent approach and cooperate with the International community with the view to reach a comprehensive settlement and reach peaceful solution in the entire region of Darfur. It is to be noted that the said organization which claims to be promoting human rights in Africa, issued a statement falsely accusing the government of practicing abduction of women and men.
