Government Affirms its Readiness for Negotiations to Reach Solution for Darfur Issue
(SUNA)- The government hoped that the Arab League and the African Union will be able, through consultation, to fix a date for the coming round of negotiations with the armed movements in Darfur
In a press statement at the Parliament, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Al-Samani Al-Wasila affirmed the government readiness for the coming negotiations with a full-mandated delegation, especially that the joint Arab - African initiative was supported by the Initiative of the People of Sudan. He said that the government got assured about the preparations of Qatar, the sponsor of the joint Arab - African initiative, toward guaranteeing international support to the initiative. Al-Wasila said that Qatar has formulated a vision and carried out great efforts and several contacts with leaders of the armed movements and influential and neighbouring countries toward holding the coming negotiations The minister hoped that the armed movements will come to the negotiation table with open mind and clear-cut vision for reaching a solution for Darfur issue, adding that no party will be a looser or a winner. He said that nothing is impossible after prevalence of will among the people of Sudan to surpass hardships, relinquish war and achieve a bright future. Meanwhile, Al-Wasila announced that preparations are underway to determine a date for a meeting between President Al-Bashir and the Chadian President, Idris Deby.
